Chapters 37-39

Tris and some Abnegation have to get into Dauntless compound and try to stop the simulation (this is a huge risk). They get there the same way Tris did right after the choosing ceremony, by jumping off the roof (I still won't do it). In the compound Tris runs into Peter and makes him tell her where the simulation is run by shooting him in the arm (he deserves it! To bad Four didn't shoot him when he had the chance!). Tris and her dad go after the simulation, but her dad is killed by guards (not both of her parents!). I think I would be in complete shock, not be able to function. Plus I would be filled with guilt about Will.

" His mouth opens like he's about to say something, but then his chin drops to his chest and his body relaxes."

Then Tris finds Tobias, he doesn't recognize her (he has to recognize her, she can't lose anything else!). He is willing to kill her to protect the simulation, so she has to attack him. During the fight, she knows that she can't win, he is kicking her butt (I wouldn't be able to either) so she has to try and break him out of the simulation, to try and save him. She tries to talk to him but it isn't working. She manages to get a gun to protect herself, but she can't kill him (who could, they are in love <3), so she gives him the gun (what? She's going to let him kill her!) and waits for the shot to come.

"I can't kill him. I am not sure if I love him; not sure if that's why. But I am sure of what he would do if our positions were reversed. I am sure nothing is worth killing him for."

But the bang never comes. Instead, he drops the gun, the simulation is ended (he's back), and he drops the gun and kisses her (yes! He is back to himself!). Then they quickly work to end the simulation and let everyone free (ya know, Tobias is a computer genius and all), they also steel the data so the Erudite cant have it (good plan). Tobias and Marcus are reunited, I can't say that it is happily (I hate Marcus for what he did to Tobias) and they head for the Amity sector in search of safety (seams like a pretty good place for that). On the train, Tobias tells Tris that he loves her (They are perfect together!! <3).

"If we take the train in the opposite direction, out of the city instead of in, we can go to Amity headquarters."

Chapters 34-36

Tobias and Tris are taken to Jeanine. Jeanine explains that the Abnegation are not allowing the city to advance and improve. She also created a new serum that works on Divergents and plans to test it on Tobias (this is not going to be good, who wants to be mind controlled?) but Tris is too injured and Jeanine plans on executing her (I would be fighting as hard as possible for my life). Tobias loses it and attacks Jeanine (I would to if I were him) but they put him under the simulation, and he tries to kill Tris.

"before the guards can stop him, he closes his hand around my throat, squeezing my trachea with his fingertips." (he is completely gone if he is trying to kill Tris :( )

Tris is put into a glass tank just like in her simulations and it begins to fill with water. This has to be one of the worst ways to die, slowly, painfully, and full of fear. When the tank is full, and just when she gave up hope, her mother appears and shoots the glass tank, freeing her (mom to the rescue!). They both run to escape, her mom shooting at the guards as they come (way to go mama!). The reason Tris' mom knows so much about the divergent is because she is one (totally unexpected). When they reach the streets her mom tries to hold off the guards but she is shot and killed (I would be in shock at this point, I would be in hysterics if my mother got shot).

"Be brave, Beatrice. I love you." we're her mothers final words.

Some of the soldiers chase after Tris (I would be about to collapse at this point) and she shoots them. Then Will comes after her trying to kill her and she has no other choice than to kill him (not Will!). Tris keeps running and finds her father and brother and they take the bullet out of her arm (that has to be painful). Then they devise a plan to stop the simulation.

"I guess I am what I've always been. Not Dauntless, not Abnegation, not Factionless. Divergent."

Chapters 31-33

After the simulation Tris is inserted with a "tracking device" then she goes off with Tobias. They go back to his room and Tris finally admits her fear about him. They come to terms with the fear and how they feel about each other and move on.

Tobias sees Tris' new tattoos on her shoulders and shows her the ones on his back. "we've all started to put down the virtues of the other factions in the process of bolstering our own. I don't want to do that. I want to be brave, and selfless, and smart, and kind, and honest." ( we'll I don't just want to have one of those traits, I want to have as many of them as possible)

Then it is time for the initiation ceremony. Tris gets first and all of her friends make it as well (yay) and Drew and Molly got cut (double yay, they deserve it). Unfortunately, Peter made it in. When Tobias comes over to congratulate her she kisses him in front of everyone.

Then she realizes:
"One: colored serums contain transmitters.
Two: Transmitters connect the mind to a simulation program.
Three: Erudite developed the serum.
Four: Eric and Max are working with the Erudite."
That is how Erudite will get the Dauntless to fight.

That night, Tris is woken up when the other initiates are leaving the dorm and she quickly follows hem (oh no, this can't be good). They go to the train and pick up guns, they are under the simulation but Tris' Divergence is protecting her. And Tobias is Divergent too (was not expecting that). They go to the Abnegation area of the city and the attack starts (please let her parents be safe!). They try to run after Eric almost kills Tobias but Tris gets shot in the shoulder and the are captured (they better not die!).

Chapters 28-30

Tris decides to go to the Erudite compound and find her brother and tells him to research the simulation serum, like her mom told her to ( I still dint understand why?). When she tries to leave, some officials catch her and take her to Jeanine (that's weird). Jeanine is curious about why Tris switched factions, so Tris told her what she wanted to hear, that she was tired of Abnegation.

Tris is then escorted back to Dauntless, where she is met by, of all people, Eric (I still don't like him). He interrogates her about why she left, and luckily Tobias steps in and tells him that she tries to kiss him and he rejected her (even though he didn't). Eric seams to accept the story and let's her go.

Tobias explains that he was trying to keep the fact that they were together a secret to protect her (that kinda makes since) and tells her to meet him at 11 (why?).
When Tris gets back to the dorm, she finds out that Christina and Will kissed (aww).
At 11, Tobias and Tris get on a train and (other than kissing) Tobias tells Tris that he discovered Erudite war plans on Abnegation (yikes, that's a lot of trouble).

"All those reports are supposed to stir up dissection against Abnegation".

The fear landscape is the final stage of initiation, and the toughest. Tris just needs to remember that it's a simulation "I imagine the serum is liquid adrenaline rushing through my veins, making me strong."

Tris only has 7 fears, most of them she had already faced in stage 2. One of the strangest ones was one of Tobias, she realized that she is afraid of intimacy. Most of her simulations have to do with being out of control and at the mercy of others. In her last simulation, she is being forced to shoot her family ( I would not be able to do that), she choses to face the fear and she gets shot instead (that is bravery).

Chapters 25-27

Tris got another tattoo, the Abnegation symbol on her shoulder. She also got Erudite articles and throws them into the chasm (what a great way to express your feelings). Then she sees Four.

Tris decides to follow Four to see where he is going, but he knows all along that she was following him ( okay, that's a little strange) and he wants to show her his fear landscape. Four is afraid of heights (so many people are), confinement (claustrophobic, but from childhood punishments?), he doesn't want to kill anyone (that seems reasonable), and his father...Marcus. Four is from Abnegation, his name is Tobias (was not expecting that!), and not all of the Erudite articles were lies, Marcus really did beat Tobias. He only has Four fears (that's why they call him Four).

Four has a hard time in his fear landscape, and Tris helps him through it. "You got me through it."

Four takes Tris down a secret walkway leading down to the chasm. Four finally opens up about his past, he left Abnegation to escape his father (that is so sad). Four also finally admits tht he likes Tris, he tells her to call him Tobias from now on, and then he kisses her (it's about time <3).

The next day the initiates try out the fear landscape with someone else's fears. Tris fails miserably and gets totally reamed out by Tobias (no, I thought thy finally got over this). She gets mad, yells at him, hits him, then runs away (why does she always run away?).

Chapters 22-24

When Tris wakes up, she is in Four's room. She finds that he had beat Drew up, saved her, then put Drew in the hospital (wow, he meant business. No one messes with Tris with him around <3) Her head was throbbing, ribs sore, and was going to have major bruising (ouch, that can't be fun) Four tells Tris that she needs to show some vulnerability around her friends to get their protection, and when she had the chance...ruin the people who attacked her (woah, he's getting a little intense here).

"It's more important for you to be safe than right, for the time being."

That night she stay in Four's room. In the morning she is incredibly stiff, sore, and bruised (sounds like they got her pretty good). When she walks into the dinning hall she keeps her head down and avoids eye contact (taking some of Four's advice and acting vulnerable). The others are absolutely appalled but what happened to her, especially that Al was involved ( well yeah, he was supposed to be her friend!). Drew was in even worse shape than Tris, he was practically all black and blue (now that sounds painful).

Later that day, Four shows them where the final stage of initiation will take place, the fear landscape (even the name sounds terrifying). They will have to face their fears.

Al finds them back in the dorm and tries to apologies, but Tris and the others won't go near him (I wouldn't either, after almost killing Tris).

"Never come near me again...if you do, I swear to God I will kill you."

That night, Tris is oaken up by Christina. "it's Al". As it turns out, Al jumped into the chasm, killing himself (I can't believe Al is dead). Dauntless funerals consist of everyone getting together, drinking, and saying that the person was brave. At this, Tris runs away.

Four finds her alone in a hallway. He warns her that she is being watched (that's not creepy at all) and tells her to be careful. He explains that when he threw the knives, he wasn't taunting her, he was reminding her to be brave and selfless.

"It's when you're acting selflessly that your at your bravest."

They stand in that hallway for a while hugging, Four with his lips against Tris' forehead <3
